(Wellford, SC)—The Mayor of Wellford is defending her policy which bans police officers in that city from chasing suspects. Sallie Peake says the policy also includes vehicle chases along with pursuits on foot.

Somehow I just cannot fathom how stupid and retarded this new policy was. Granted, the took it down, but she said that she didn't want to.

The reason behind this temporary policy? Money. It's always money, isn't it? She said that police injuries during chases was costing the town too much money on insurance, and therefore banned all forms of pursuit to capture dangerous criminals.

...Duh?

How much of an idiot do you need to be to tell an emergency service to NOT DO THEIR JOB?! So, now criminals just gotta run for it and they are home-free every time. Best plan ever. Now you can embezzle all the money you want without the well drying up! Fur coats out the wazzoo!

I mean, what drives a person to choose to deny the police their ability to protect and serve the public? If you are strapped for cash, you cut the fat. Unnecessary things. Hopefully the town doesn't lose anymore money, they may tell firefighters not to put out houses, water can get pretty expensive! Pray that you don't get a heart attack either, EMS can't drive their ambulance! Gas is gettin' pretty high up there too.
